The Story Behind the New Pomelo
Marta Bralic Kerns

The pomelo fruit has a thick rind, designed and adapted by nature to protect what's inside. That simple idea became the founding metaphor for our company: building a continuous, protective layer of care that wraps around families, catching small changes before complications happen.
We built Pomelo to make proactive, high-quality clinical care possible, combining 24/7 multispecialty care with technology that identifies risk earlier and enables our clinicians to intervene before something goes wrong. Over the past five years, we’ve grown beyond pregnancy and postpartum to caring for women and children at every stage of life, from pediatrics to (peri)menopause. As our virtual medical practice expanded, we wanted our brand to feel just as real and personal as the care we deliver to patients every day and night. We needed a brand that showed what proactive and personalized care from Pomelo actually feels like.
I remember picking our original logo and colors just in time for one of our first sales pitches. Pomelo grew quickly and those early choices took on a life of their own—they held the stories of every patient we cared for, every late-night question answered, and the team we built together. So when it was time to update our brand, I felt a little nervous. I wanted to be certain that whatever came next didn't lose the heart of who we are.
But the first time I saw our new brand, it was unmistakably us: the way the letter “m” proactively reaches out to support the “e” in our new Pomelo wordmark, how the letters connect to close gaps, and how our colors fluidly adapt. It perfectly captures our promise to every family: to meet you where you are and deliver care built around your life.
Every detail in this new brand reflects how we care for our patients:
- Our wordmark and custom font: Designed with connected letterforms, the typography visually closes gaps. It mirrors how our care team wraps around families and stays continuously connected between visits so no one ever navigates health changes alone. Each letterform proactively reaches forward, symbolizing our commitment to proactive care.
- The Pom: Our new adaptive symbol takes the fruit’s protective rind and turns it into a fluid, organic shape that flexes and moves. It’s a reminder that our care adapts to each patient's unique and changing needs. If you look at the center of the Pom, there’s a gentle glow in the shape of a bean, carrying a little piece of our roots forward.
- Warmth and real connection: Our new colors come right from the fruit itself—from an adaptive, bright Pomelo yellow to a soft, grounding pink. But the real warmth isn’t just in our colors. It came to life through the lens during our brand photography shoot. In a moment of pure kismet, we learned our photographer, Emily, was actually a Pomelo patient. She shared how much our care meant during her own journey and brought that deep trust to set, capturing quiet, lived-in moments that feel warm, honest, and deeply human.
Our look might be new, but our mission hasn’t changed: to raise the standard of healthcare for every woman and child. Healthcare shouldn't wait for something to go wrong. That protective rind isn’t just an origin story. It’s how we take care of people every single day—quietly anticipating needs and managing risk behind the scenes so patients know someone is always looking out for them. Just like the pomelo’s rind.
Welcome to the new Pomelo.
